Club Mission

The Buffalo Model Boat Club (BMBC) was founded in 1965.  At the time, radio control model boating was limited to few model and control electronics choices.  Over the years, model availability and electronics reliability have paced the expansion of the hobby resulting in an affordable and rewarding pastime.

The BMBC roster includes over forty members of all ages and interest levels. Regular monthly meetings combined with scheduled sailing events provide year-round activity for the membership.  Meetings include a regular agenda, member “show and tell” sessions for individual’s model display and an educational presentation.

The Club mission is two-fold; preservation of the radio control model boating hobby and enhancement of member skill and enjoyment.  To this end, BMBC leadership is structured to recognize the need for continuity and focus on the principal model classes. Leadership organization includes Commodore, Secretary and Treasurer positions plus Fleet Captains for sail, scale and fast electric models.  Committees include dock facility, publicity and the Wave newsletter.

The officers and members extend an invitation to investigate the BMBC by attending a monthly meeting, an informal sailing event or a regatta to see the model boating experience first-hand.  The following pages in our website provide more details about radio control model boating as well as schedules and locations of activities.
